Accessibility is one of the Museum’s priorities. The Museum aims to be an institution for everyone, in keeping with its role as a public service dedicated to cultural and social inclusion.

Architectural Barriers

Nine of the Museum’s ten exhibition areas are accessible. Please note that there are steps at the museum entrance.

Tactile Tours

A guided tactile tour service for blind and partially sighted visitors is available by reservation. The tour includes tactile exploration of selected works from the collection, reproductions, and educational materials. All tools and resources available at the Museum are used during the visit.

Visits can be booked by calling +39 041 5241173 every day between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm or by emailing drm-ven.orientale@cultura.gov.it. Each tour lasts approximately one and a half hours. At the end of the tour, visitors may listen to the films shown in Room VIII:

  • The Bardi Collection: From Private Collection to State Museum (15 minutes), available in Italian and English.
  • Makie, the Art of Golden Lacquer: Technique and Restoration (9 minutes), available in Italian and English.

For Younger Visitors

The Museum provides tactile and educational materials. Children can request the Tactile Memory Game to enjoy with siblings and friends while exploring the galleries. Five tactile booklets have been developed to meet the needs of visitors with visual impairments. Thanks to the combination of printed and Braille text, together with visual and tactile illustrations, these resources can be enjoyed by sighted, blind, and partially sighted children alike.

Several copies of the booklets are available at the Museum and may be borrowed by teachers for educational activities in schools, together with a guide explaining how to use them. A member of the Museum staff is available by appointment to conduct a special guided tour using these materials.
