MUSEUM OF ORIENTAL ART
The National Museum Veneto region Office is pleased to welcome you at the Museum of Oriental Art. To ensure an enjoyable visit for everyone, we kindly ask you to observe a few simple rules out of respect for the heritage, the environment, and other visitors.
Museum rules of conduct
Out of respect for other visitors, we kindly ask you to keep your voice at a moderate to low level. Please silence your mobile phones within the museum rooms to avoid disturbing the visit.
To maintain decorum and respect other visitors, those in beachwear or naked breast will not be admitted. Similarly, admission will be denied to those with covered faces.
The following are not permitted:
- touching the exhibited artworks or leaning on them;
- sitting or leaning on display fixtures;
- running or jumping in the museum spaces;
- writing on or defacing the walls;
- damaging or tampering in any way with structures, facilities, or services;
- engaging in behavior that could compromise the security of the heritage;
- engaging in dangerous behavior that could endanger one’s own or others’ safety, or that is contrary to public order;
- being aggressive towards the visitor service and security personnel, who are entrusted with a public service duty.
- smoking and using e-cigarettes is forbidden in the museum.
- eat or drink in the exhibition rooms or anywhere else in the museums not specifically set aside for this purpose
- let wastepaper, cans, bottles or other refuse in the museums. These must be put in the waste bins in the external areas before entering.
Animals
Admission will be denied to those with animals except to those with guide or service dogs.
Photography
Flash photography and video recording using tripods or other professional equipment are not permitted without prior authorization. You may request authorization in advance by writing to drm-ven@cultura.gov.it.
Groups
Groups must not exceed 25 people. To preserve the delicate atmosphere of the rooms, tour guides are strongly encouraged to use a whisper system.
School Groups
Groups must not exceed 25 people. In the case of larger groups, we kindly request the organization of two accompanied subgroups, which will be admitted sequentially to avoid crowding along the route.
Teachers are responsible for their classes: they must keep them together and disciplined, ensuring that students’ behavior is respectful of the museum context, other visitors, and more generally, the rules contained in this document.
Luggage and bags
Suitcases, trolleys and any bulky luggage are not permitted in the museum areas.
Smaller but still bulky bags and backpacks, umbrellas and any other objects which, in the opinion of the security staff, cannot be introduced into the exhibition areas, must be left in the cloakroom.
The cloakroom service is free of charge.
Video Surveillance
The premises of MAO are under video surveillance for security purposes. The recording is carried out by the Regional Directorate of National Museums of Veneto in compliance with Article 13 of the GDPR.
